The time a dance trend started with an idol but ended with a fan

Kino, a member of K-pop group Pentagon and K-pop sensation, recently dropped an EP featuring five tracks, including his first single of the year, ‘Fashion Style’. Each song projects a unique style with an overall upbeat tempo. The standout title track, "Broke My Heart," featuring Lay Bankz, has been generating the most buzz.

Broke My Heart is a catchy, upbeat song that's been making waves in the K-pop world. Kino and Lay Bankz even came up with a cool dance for fans to learn during the song's promotional period. It's a favorite part for K-pop fans, as it gives them a way to show their love for their favorite artists. This challenge has taken the fan culture to a whole new level!

Every fan embraced the challenge of learning the dance, but one individual put her own unique spin on it. User Reinberrie, known on Instagram and TikTok, uploaded a video that caught the attention of Kino. Kino and the rest of the NakedxProud team loved it so much that not only did he duet her video, but he also changed his challenge to the challenge she created!

I caught up with Kyah, @Reinberrie on social media platforms, to gain insight on her perspective on the unexpected interaction. I asked Kyah, why she decided to join in on the trend.

“I thought it was a catchy dance with a catchy song.” Which made her want to do it with her friends. While creating the challenge, she emphasized the importance of adding in her own moves to fill in empty spaces. Also, being a fan of Kino, Kyah wanted to share her support for his latest comeback.  She also shared that she previously made her own challenge to Fashion Style showcasing her various styles, to which Kino also acknowledged her post and reposted it. Emphasizing that her page is mostly fashion and some dance covers, creating her own spin to Broke My Heart came easily.

Let's talk about the moment when you saw he dueted your video.

“I was in disbelief and I thought it was nice that he saw my video with my friends and thought ‘hmm this would make a great challenge’ I’m glad my friends, Shannon and Maria, got to do it with me as well, I think that showed that the challenge can be done with many people.” 

Kyah also thought it was cool that Kino incorporated her challenge for not only him but fans as well as giving her dance credits as he continues to do his challenge with many people. 

Anything you would want to add or any words for Kino?

  “I just thank him for being inclusive for dancing with his fans. There are many fans who create creative challenges for their idols to see and go unnoticed, I’m appreciative that he noticed me and other fans.” 

  Kino's engagement with his fans is remarkable. It's inspiring to see how he's taking TikTok challenges to a whole new level, involving his fans in such a unique way. This could set a new standard for how artists interact with their fans on social media. 

Kino is truly a remarkable person. Witnessing this heartwarming moment between a fan and her favorite idol was truly touching. Despite being a part of the K-pop culture for quite some time, I haven’t witnessed anything quite like this before. I send my best wishes to Kino for all his future projects and I hope to witness more fans being included in such beautiful trends.
