Seventeen 'SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN' Review

Kpop powerhouse Seventeen is back with an all-new EP “SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN”, and it’s a lot to take in. With their eight-track mini album, SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN now holds the highest stock of preorders at 5.2 million copies sold; breaking their own record with their previous album F*ck My Life.

Within the album, there are tracks performed by each of the three units in the group (PERFORMANCE, VOCAL, and HIP HOP), and three tracks are performed by the group as a whole. I knew it was a matter of time before Seventeen gave us another masterpiece after F*ck My Life.

Seventeen has always been keen on letting CARATS (their fandom name) know how much they appreciate them and with the title track of this album is ‘GOD OF MUSIC’, SEVENTEEN once again expresses their love for their fans, including me. Listening to ‘GOD OF MUSIC’ has filled me with so much joy. With the Up-beat tempo and catchy-melody, I know I can count on this song to instantly boost my mood.

“We can’t communicate with words, but with music we can be best friends from now on”. “What is our happiness. Don't fret, let's just dance and sing”. I have never felt anything more resonating in life. I recall my first time ever seeing Seventeen live, and I was truly amazed. I remember thinking “wow this is what happiness feels like”. When I listen to Seventeen all my worries go away. It’s like I'm in a trance.

I’d like to bring attention to the track DIAMOND DAYS because it almost had me sobbing at 9:30 am. Especially since it is a continuation of their pre debut song 'SHINING DIAMOND’. Fan songs like DIAMOND DAYS and ‘TO YOU, OUR DAWN IS HOTTER THAN DAY, _WORLD.’ (just to name a few), that are specifically dedicated to CARATS hold a special place in my heart. These tracks make me believe that the thin line between fan and artist are blurred and for that one moment, we get to share a special moment with the artist. These songs are truly beautiful and, in that moment, I know that it'll always be seventeen + carats for life! I’ve been a carat for five years and it’ll be that way till the end of time.

MONSTER, SOS, YAWN, HEADLINER, AND BACK TO BACK, what can i say? Seventeen never misses when it's time for a new comeback. The hiphop unit is always fierce, and exciting. I’m always questioning “What is Vernon going to rap now?” “What is S.coups going to do?” Time and time again expect the unexpected. Because you never know what you're going to get with this group! Seventeen transcends all expectations and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
